Otis

1 August 01, 2018 in Happy Tails (Adopted!) by staff
UPDATE: Adoption Pending. This is Otis! He's a two year old German Shepherd Dog/Husky mix, neutered with all his shots. He loves walks and playing in the yard. Would make a great hiking or backpacking companion!

He's got a very calm temperament once he's settled in, and his favorite place is RIGHT next to you. He knows "sit", "stay", and "shake" and is a fast learner with new commands. He is not aggressive towards cats or other dogs, but he does better with female dogs than male. He has some separation anxiety, which we've been working on, and some very minor food aggression which is almost gone - he will very gently take treats from your hand but gets nervous if his bowl is touched while he's eating. He walks very well on a leash and is friendly to new people and dogs, though he is slightly territorial on home turf.

An ideal place for Otis would be an active home with experienced dog owners that can give him a sense of structure and security. He is not food-motivated, and will easily pick up new commands for a "good boy" and some head scratches. He would do better with teenagers and older children. Cats are not recommended.

Please share so he can find a forever home!
